Dazheng Zhu

Dazheng Zhu is an Adjunct Assistant Professor in the Music Department at The University of Texas at Arlington, where she has taught piano, music theory, and ear training courses at all levels since 2001. She also serves as adjunct music faculty at Tarrant County College, teaching piano and related subjects.

• B.A. in Music and Piano Performance (UTA) under Dr. David Stokan
• M.M. in Piano Pedagogy (Texas Christian University) with Dr. Tamas Ungar and Leeann Kirkham
• Private lessons with Prof. Joseph Bloch and Rudolph Firkusny at Shanghai Music Conservatory (1982-1985)

Her career spans decades, including solo recitals in China (1970-1989) and international performances since 1990. She has served as a judge for piano competitions, directed educational programs like the UTA Keyboard Division Award, and contributed to community events through performances at venues like the Levitt Pavilion.

Key awards include the 2024 Committed to Excellence Employee Service 15 Years Award and multiple scholarships throughout her academic career. She chairs the Outstanding Musicianship Awards for the Arlington Music Teachers Association since 2006.
