Dayana Lengauer

Dayana Lengauer is a postdoctoral researcher at the Institute for Social Anthropology within the Austrian Academy of Sciences, focusing on youth movements, Islam, and digital media in Indonesia. She earned her PhD in Social and Cultural Anthropology from Vienna University in 2022.

• Studied pluralism and interfaith dialogue in technopolitan cities like Bandung
• Explores student activism and online publics since Indonesia's 1998 reforms
• Recipient of the AAS Doc Fellowship for her dissertation

Her research bridges digital anthropology with religious practices, emphasizing social media's role in mobilizing youth and fostering intimate engagement. She previously contributed to the FWF-funded project "Islamic (Inter)Faces of the Internet", analyzing online pious communities.
