Dawn Sutherland is a Professor at the Faculty of Education, University of Manitoba, and Associate Dean for Social Sciences and Humanities in the Faculty of Graduate Studies. Her research focuses on improving access to science education for marginalized students, particularly Indigenous youth and children in care, through culturally embedded design and community collaboration.

Research Interests include:
- Science education for Indigenous and marginalized students
- Cultural and contextual relevance in STEM
- Educational equity for children in care
- Engineering design in elementary education
Recent Article Trends highlight her work on Indigenous knowledge systems, equity in science education, and interprofessional collaboration for child welfare support. Her publications span empirical studies, policy frameworks, and community-based interventions.

- Canada Research Chair in Indigenous Science Education
Teaching & Service: She has mentored students through Canada Research Chair roles, collaborated with the Boys and Girls Club of Winnipeg, and developed Manitoba provincial science curricula. Her service includes facilitating Destination Imagination teams and advising on ecological monitoring projects.
