Dawn Owens

Dawn Owens is a Clinical Associate Professor and Associate Dean of Undergraduate Programs in the Naveen Jindal School of Management at UT Dallas. She directs the Information Technology and Systems (ITS) undergraduate program and holds a PhD in Information Systems from the University of Nebraska at Omaha (2012), along with earlier degrees in the same field from 1998 and 1994.

Her research focuses on virtual teams, trust in technology-mediated environments, software quality assurance, and innovative education practices. Key contributions include studies on metaverse applications, pandemic-era remote work dynamics, and collaborative international learning programs. Dr. Owens has pioneered initiatives like the ITS Academy, organizing STEM symposiums and summer camps to engage students, and secured STEM designation for the ITS program through curriculum reforms.

Awarded the AIS Sandra Slaughter Service Award (2020), she actively promotes women in technology through AIS and NCWIT chapters. Her professional affiliations include the Association for Information Systems and Toastmasters International, where she advises a JSOM chapter. Recent work emphasizes metaverse research and global crisis impacts on technology adoption.
