Dawn M Lowry is an Instructor and Director of Forensics in the Department of Communication at George Mason University. She has extensive experience in higher education, having taught at five prior institutions including Bradley University and Western Kentucky University. Her roles involve coaching Mason's speech team and teaching courses like Basic Public Speaking, Performance of Communicative Literature, and Persuasion.
Education: BA in Communication (Film & Television Production/Rhetorical Film Criticism) from Northern Illinois University; MA in Communication (Media Emphasis) from Illinois State University.
Research focuses on Trauma in Performance and the Digital Divide in Forensics Competitions. Recent scholarly contributions include presentations at the National Communication Association (2019) and AFA/NFA/PKD/PRP (2020).
She advises the Forensics team and is involved in curriculum development. Office hours are held virtually via Blackboard and in-person Wednesdays 11-1.
