Davide Sacconi

Davide Sacconi is an Associate Professor at the Royal College of Art, School of Architecture, where he has run Architectural Design Studio 10 (ADS10) since 2017. His academic career spans over a decade of teaching at prestigious institutions including the Bartlett UCL, University of Liverpool, and Syracuse University London Program, which he directed for five years.

His educational background includes graduating with honors from Università degli Studi di Roma Tre, earning a postgraduate diploma from the Berlage Institute of Rotterdam in 2011, and completing his PhD at the Architectural Association of London in 2022.

Sacconi's research focuses on the political economic relationships between architectural form and its modes of production, representation, and use. His work explores Savage Architecture as an alternative approach that moves beyond conventional shelter and comfort to examine architecture as the material and symbolic basis for collective rituals and social organization. His research investigates unexpected urban conditions and collective rituals of knowledge production that emerge as forms of resistance within continuous urbanization processes.

His publications and exhibitions demonstrate a consistent focus on challenging conventional architectural paradigms. Through his edited books and curated exhibitions like 'Savage Architecture' and 'Dreams seen up close,' he examines alternative architectural practices and historical movements that offer different possibilities for collective life.

Sacconi maintains an active role in architectural education as an external examiner for the University of Liverpool's School of Architecture and runs Diploma 20 at the Architectural Association. His industry experience includes working with internationally renowned offices such as IaN+ and MVRDV on diverse architecture, landscape, and urban design projects.
