Davide Rossi

Prof. Davide Rossi is an Associate Professor at the Faculty of Biomedical Sciences, Università della Svizzera italiana (USI). He leads the Experimental Hematology research program at the Institute of Oncology Research (IOR) and serves as Deputy Head of Hematology at the Oncology Institute of Southern Switzerland (IOSI). His research focuses on lymphomas and chronic lymphocytic leukemia (CLL), with over 330 peer-reviewed publications. He is Principal Investigator of national/international CLL clinical trials and contributed to the 2016 WHO Classification of Hematologic Malignancies. He holds editorial roles at Blood, Blood Cancer Discovery, and HaemaSphere, and chairs major hematology conferences.

Education: Specialization in Internal Medicine and PhD in Clinical and Experimental Medicine from the University of Eastern Piedmont. Previously served as Professor of Hematology there until 2015.

Research interests include molecular mechanisms of hematologic malignancies, personalized CLL management via the IPS-E prognostic score, genetic/phenotypic analysis of splenic marginal zone lymphoma (SMZL), and mechanisms of ibrutinib resistance in CLL. His work integrates genomic, epigenetic, and clinical data to develop targeted therapies.

Funding: Supported by grants from the European Research Council, Swiss National Fund, Oncosuisse, and others. His team collaborates internationally through initiatives like the IELSG46 study.

Labs/Teams: Leads the Laboratory of Experimental Hematology at IOR, coordinating translational research between preclinical models and clinical trials. Active in multidisciplinary programs like the Clinical Lymphoid Tumors Investigation Program.
