Davide Di Maio is an Associate Professor in the Department of Foreign Languages and Literatures at the University of Verona. He previously taught at the University of Palermo and HafenCity University Hamburg before joining Verona in 2021. His research focuses on German literature of the 20th century (e.g., George, Zweig), 18th-century aesthetics (Schiller, Herder), and contemporary literary theory. He serves as Vice-Director of the CRIER (Center for Interdepartmental Research on Romantic Europe) and contributes to journals like Nube and Romanticismi. His current projects explore Botho Strauss's poetics, the concept of conservatism, and Ludwig Klages's philosophy.
Teaching responsibilities include German literature modules for undergraduate programs in Foreign Languages and Digital Media. He actively participates in academic governance, serving on the PhD Board for Foreign Literatures and Languages, and chairs committees for internationalization and curriculum development. His collaborative work extends to editorial roles in academic publishing and research initiatives on European literature.
