Davide Ambrogio Faoro

Davide Ambrogio Faoro is an Associate Professor of Roman History at the Department of Literature and Philosophy, University of Florence, where he has been teaching since March 2020. His academic journey began with a degree in Ancient History from the University of Bologna in 2002, followed by a PhD from the University of Udine in 2006. Prior to his current position, he held research positions at multiple Italian universities and participated in an ERC project at the University of Bordeaux-Montaigne from 2017 to 2019.

His work explores the prosopography of the equestrian order, the development of imperial property in Italy and Western provinces, and epigraphic studies of Alpine, Rhine, and Danube regions. His recent publications demonstrate a consistent focus on Roman provincial administration, governance structures, and the integration of frontier regions into the Roman Empire. His scholarly output shows a methodological approach combining epigraphic evidence with historical analysis to reconstruct administrative practices and territorial organization in the Roman world.

His recent publications (2021-2025) reveal a strong emphasis on Roman administrative history, particularly regarding:
