Dr. David Zentler-Munro is a Lecturer in the Department of Economics at the University of Essex. His research focuses on labor economics, with particular attention to wage inequality, technological change, and labor market dynamics. He has conducted significant work analyzing the impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic on labor reallocation and job search behaviors, as well as the effects of minimum wage policies using advanced econometric and machine learning techniques.
Teaching responsibilities include Introduction to Quantitative Economics (EC114) and Data Science for Economics (EC915). He currently supervises two PhD students, Taichi Yoshida and Pavel Tukpetov, both researching topics in economics.
His professional activities include presentations at prominent conferences such as the Royal Economics Society Annual Conference (2024), the Society of Labor Economists Annual Conference (2024), and the European Winter Meeting of the Econometric Society (2022). He has also contributed to policy-oriented discussions through media pieces on labor market trends, including analyses of the 'great resignation' and older workers' labor dynamics.
Dr. Zentler-Munro secured a 2024 grant from the British Academy titled Older Workers' Job Search and Health Shocks, reflecting his commitment to understanding labor market challenges faced by aging populations.
