David Z. Albert

David Z. Albert is the Frederick J. E. Woodbridge Professor of Philosophy at Columbia University and director of the Philosophical Foundations of Physics M.A. Program. He holds a B.S. in Physics from Columbia College (1976) and a Ph.D. in Theoretical Physics from The Rockefeller University (1981). His research focuses on foundational questions in physics, particularly quantum mechanics, space-time, and the philosophy of science.

Albert's notable works include Quantum Mechanics and Experience and Time and Chance. He has authored numerous articles, primarily in Physical Review, exploring conceptual issues in modern physics. His contributions bridge physics and philosophy, addressing topics like measurement problems, time asymmetry, and the interpretation of quantum theory.

He currently advises students in the M.A. program and maintains an active role in academic discourse. His office is located in 706 Philosophy Hall, with regular office hours on Mondays and Wednesdays.
