معرفی
David Wright is an Associate Professor (Research) in the Department of Neuroscience at Monash University, specializing in advanced neuroimaging techniques for neurological diseases. His work focuses on developing MRI-based biomarkers to study traumatic brain injury (TBI), epilepsy, and neurodegenerative disorders. He leads projects such as the NIH-funded Translational platform for epilepsy therapy and biomarker discovery and the Glymphatic System: Novel Biomarker of Disease Severity and Therapeutic Target.
- Affiliations: Monash Biomedical Imaging (MBI), Central Clinical School.
- Research Interests: Imaging biomarkers, MRI methodology, TBI pathophysiology, neuroinflammation, and neurodegenerative biomarkers.
His research highlights include identifying novel MRI metrics for axonal injury in TBI and demonstrating the role of pre-existing infections (e.g., Toxoplasma gondii) in exacerbating brain damage post-TBI. He collaborates internationally on harmonizing preclinical neuroimaging data to improve translational studies.
Key Projects:
- Translational platform for epilepsy therapy (NIH, 2022–2026)
- Glymphatic System Biomarkers (2022–2024)
His lab, the Wright Group at Monash, focuses on imaging-driven solutions for neurological disorders, with emphasis on clinical translation. Recent work explores CD39-targeted therapies for stroke and glymphatic dysfunction in ALS.
