معرفی
David W. Marchetti is a Professor of Geology at Western Colorado University in the Natural & Environmental Sciences Department. He earned his PhD and MS from the University of Utah and a BA from SUNY Geneseo. His research focuses on geochronology, paleoclimatology, and aqueous geochemistry, with fieldwork in the western United States and Argentina.
- PhD, University of Utah, 2006
- MS, University of Utah, 2002
- BA, State University of New York at Geneseo, 1996
Marchetti’s work leverages cosmogenic exposure age dating and stable isotope analysis to reconstruct glacial histories, hydrological systems, and paleoclimate conditions. His recent publications highlight Utah and Colorado Plateau studies, with applications in hydrology, volcanology, and Quaternary science. Methodologies include GIS, isochron approaches, and paleosecular variation stratigraphy.
His teaching portfolio spans courses like GEOL 320 (Geomorphology), GEOL 430 (Hydrogeology), and ENVS 373 (The Water Planet). Student research projects emphasize field-based geological studies, including rock glacier hydrology, cosmogenic dating techniques, and fluvial hydrology changes.
