David W. Fardo is a Professor and the inaugural Stephen W. Wyatt Endowed Professor of Public Health at the University of Kentucky's College of Public Health (CPH). He holds affiliations with the Sanders-Brown Center on Aging and the UK Alzheimer's Disease Research Center (ADRC). His research focuses on genetic risk factors for neurodegenerative diseases, particularly Alzheimer's and dementia-related pathologies. He leads NIA-funded studies targeting genes like TREM2 and SHIP1, and investigates novel mechanisms for hippocampal sclerosis and mixed dementias.
- Education: PhD in Biostatistics, MS in Biostatistics, and Epidemiology.
Research interests include statistical genetics, neuropathology endophenotypes, and therapeutic interventions. He develops courses in statistical genetics and serves in academic leadership roles, including Chair of CPH Faculty Council.

His work bridges genomics, neurology, and public health, with recent publications on LATE-NC (limbic-predominant age-related TDP-43 encephalopathy) and Alzheimer's subtypes.
