David Thompson

David Thompson is a Professor of Nursing at Queen’s University Belfast since 2018. He has held prominent roles globally, including Professorships at Australian Catholic University, the University of Leicester, and the Chinese University of Hong Kong. His expertise spans cardiac nursing, psychosocial interventions, and heart failure management. Thompson holds advanced qualifications including a PhD in Psychology (Loughborough, 1989), an MBA (Hull, 2001), and multiple Fellowships in nursing and medical societies.

He has secured significant research grants, including the €6.5M Interreg Europe-funded PASSION-HF project (2018–2021) and a NOK6.6M Helse Vest RHF Grant for the CONCORD-PCI Study (2017–2020). With over 600 publications and an H-index of 70, his work has garnered >22,000 citations.
