David Taylor is an Associate Professor at the School of Marine and Atmospheric Sciences (SoMAS) of Stony Brook University, where he serves as Interim Division Head and Faculty Director for the Environmental Humanities track in Sustainability Studies. His work bridges Poetry, Creative Nonfiction, Ecocriticism, and Interdisciplinary Science Writing, with a focus on Environmental Sustainability and Community Engagement.
David's research explores Cuban Environmental Culture, American Literature, and Nature Writing, particularly through collaborations with Cuban institutions like the Consejo Nacional de Artes Escénicas and the University of Havana. He has edited volumes such as An Island in the Stream (2019) and Sushi in Cortez (2015), integrating Cultural Studies, Environmental Philosophy, and Theatre for Outreach. His poetic works, including Palm Up, Palm Down (2017) and The Log from the Sea of Cortez (2013), reflect his commitment to Landscape as Muse and Meditative Environmentalism.
