David Stellon serves as a Senior Lecturer in Anatomy at the School of Medicine, University of Sunderland, where he facilitates clinical anatomy education for medical students while advancing research in medicine and medical education.
His academic credentials include a PhD in Medical Studies from the Wicking Dementia Research and Education Centre at the University of Tasmania, where he investigated toxicity models using human induced pluripotent stem cells and fluorescent biosensors. He also holds an MSc in Human Anatomy (Distinction) from the University of Edinburgh and a BSc (Hons) in Biomedical Science (First Class) from the University of Lincoln.
Dr. Stellon's research focuses on clinically relevant anatomical variations and human disease, medical education methodologies, and fluorescent biosensor models for toxicity imaging. His expertise spans human anatomy, neuroanatomy, fluorescent biosensors, toxicity models, and dementia and ageing research.
He teaches human gross anatomy, neuroanatomy, and histology on the MBChB Medicine program, integrating his research knowledge into practical medical education.
- Institute of Biomedical Science (IBMS) President's Prize
Before joining the University of Sunderland, Dr. Stellon served as an Associate Lecturer in Anatomy at the University of Lincoln Medical School and as a Casual Academic at the Wicking Dementia Research and Education Centre, building a foundation for his current interdisciplinary approach to medical education and research.
