Professor David Smith is a prominent marine biologist and academic at the University of Essex, serving as Professor in the School of Life Sciences. He leads the Coral Reef Research Unit and holds multiple editorial roles, including Associate Editor of Global Change Biology. His research focuses on coral reef conservation, climate change impacts on marine ecosystems, and environmental governance in tropical regions.
