Professor David Smith is Deputy Head of the College of Arts, Humanities, and Social Sciences (CAHSS) at the University of Edinburgh. He holds a Professorial role and has extensive leadership experience, including serving as Head of the Moray House School of Education and Sport at Edinburgh and previously at the University of Aberdeen. He chairs the Scottish Council of Deans of Education and leads initiatives such as the Academic Freedom and Freedom of Expression Working Group. His research focuses on religion and education, exploring religio-cultural dynamics in educational contexts.
