David Sells

David Sells is an Associate Research Scientist in Psychiatry at Yale School of Medicine, affiliated with the Connecticut Mental Health Center and the Yale Program for Recovery and Community Health. His research focuses on recovery processes in serious mental illnesses, peer support interventions, and integrating criminal justice and mental health services. He holds a PhD from Northern Illinois University (2001) and postdoctoral training at Yale and NIH.

Research interests include criminal justice reform, community reintegration for the incarcerated, and policy-driven mental health service coordination. Key projects include The Connection model, which integrates criminal justice and mental health systems, and peer-mentored reentry programs reducing recidivism.
