David A. Sanders is an Associate Professor in the Department of Biological Sciences at Purdue University, affiliated with the Markey Center for Structural Biology. His research focuses on molecular virology, enzymatic mechanisms, and scientific publication ethics. He earned a B.S. in Molecular Biophysics and Biochemistry from Yale College and a Ph.D. in Biochemistry from UC Berkeley (1989). His work includes designing novel retroviral vectors for gene therapy, studying Ebola virus entry mechanisms, and advocating for peer review reform. Sanders has been involved in biodefense initiatives, including inspections of Soviet-era biological research facilities in Siberia.
