David J. Reibstein is the William Stewart Woodside Professor and Professor of Marketing at the Wharton School, University of Pennsylvania. He holds a PhD from Purdue University and BS/BA degrees from the University of Kansas. A globally recognized expert in marketing strategy, he serves as Chairman of Responsible Research in Business & Management (RRBM), former Chairman of the American Marketing Association, and Executive Director of the Marketing Science Institute. He consults for Fortune 500 companies including Google, Intel, and Novartis, and has testified as an expert witness in high-profile cases like Apple vs Samsung.
His research focuses on brand equity, marketing metrics, competitive strategy, and consumer behavior, with recent work exploring AI’s role in marketing, resilient business models, and sociopolitical activism. Reibstein pioneered nation branding research through the U.S. News Best Countries project and cryptocurrency consumer confidence metrics.
Teaching highlights include Strategic Marketing Simulation and MBA/Executive Education programs, earning him 30+ teaching awards. His research appears in Marketing Science, Journal of Marketing Research, and books like Marketing Metrics: The Manager’s Guide (awarded Best Business Book in Marketing) and Resilient Marketing.
