David Purcell is an Assistant Professor at New York University's School of Music Business and serves as the assistant program director of music business. He is the founder and president of Music Royalty Solutions, a firm specializing in business and financial management for independent artists and entertainment startups. Purcell also works as a business and legal affairs consultant for clients like Roadrunner Records and Robot of the Century Music Publishing.
His teaching portfolio includes courses such as Landmark Cases in Music Copyright Law, Business Structure of the Music Industry, and Managing the Performing Artist. As a professional drummer and percussionist, he has performed internationally with notable artists including Debbie Harry (Blondie), Neil Patrick Harris, and Ashford and Simpson. Purcell holds a degree from Berklee College of Music and a Juris Doctorate from The University of Wisconsin Law School.
