David Prieto Garcia-Seco

David Prieto García-Seco is a Senior Lecturer (tenured) at the University of Murcia, Department of Spanish Language and General Linguistics, within the Faculty of Arts and Humanities. He holds a Doctorate from the Universidad Autónoma de Madrid (2011) with a thesis on lexical creativity in Tirso de Molina, awarded the Premio Extraordinario de Doctorado. His research focuses on the history of the Spanish lexicon and Spanish lexicography, particularly the evolution of dictionaries and lexical sources from the 17th century to modern times.

Research Interests: His work explores historical lexicography, the influence of Golden Age authors on dictionaries, and the evolution of Spanish lexical entries. He has published extensively on topics like the reception of Tirso de Molina’s lexical innovations in dictionaries, the discovery of a retouched 1780 RAE dictionary edition, and the analysis of marginal lexical processes such as false segmentation.

Publications: Over 20 books and articles, including major works like *Cuatro siglos de lexicografía española* (2014) and *Un eslabón recuperado de la lexicografía española* (2021). His research appears in journals like *Boletín de la Real Academia Española*, *Revista de Lexicografía*, and *Rilce*.

Awards: Recipient of the Premio Extraordinario de Doctorado (2011) and the FPU research grant (2004–2008).

Teaching & Leadership: Teaches Spanish language courses at undergraduate and postgraduate levels. Coordinated the MALTA Master’s program (2012–2016) and currently serves as editor of *Revista de Investigación Lingüística*. Active in academic outreach, contributing to *Rinconete* (Centro Virtual Cervantes) since 2012.

International Engagement: Delivered lectures at institutions such as the Consejo Superior de Investigaciones Científicas, Universidad de Leipzig, and Masaryk University. Participated in over 40 national and international conferences.
