David Peter Cormode is a full Professor in the Department of Radiology at the Perelman School of Medicine, University of Pennsylvania. He is affiliated with multiple translational research centers including the Center for Translational Targeted Therapeutics and Nanomedicine, Institute for Translational Medicine and Therapeutics, and the Penn Institute for Immunology.
His research focuses on nanoparticle-based contrast agents for CT, MRI, and molecular imaging, with applications in cardiovascular disease and cancer diagnostics. Key innovations include developing gold, bismuth, and cerium oxide nanoparticles with fluorescence, antioxidant, and therapeutic properties.
Recent publications highlight advances in biofilm infection treatment (2024), photon-counting CT (2023), and renally excretable contrast agents (2022). His work bridges chemistry, radiology, and biomedical engineering through collaborations with the Penn Bioengineering and Pharmacology Graduate Groups.
