David Pellegrini is a Professor in Communication, Film and Theatre at Eastern Connecticut State University. His work bridges Theatre History, Directing, and Intermedial Performance, with a focus on adaptation studies and cross-cultural collaborations.
- Education: B.S. in Psychology (Santa Clara University), M.A. in Drama (San Francisco State University), Ph.D. in Theatre History, Theory and Criticism (University of Pittsburgh).
His research explores the intersections of art and ideology, particularly in historical avant-garde performance (Germany/Japan pre-WWII) and contemporary intermedial adaptations. Recent projects include analyses of works by Ivo van Hove and adaptations of E.M. Forster’s Howards End.
Recent publications and presentations highlight trends in queer dramaturgy, technological integration in performance, and global reinterpretations of classical texts. His directing portfolio spans classical and contemporary works, emphasizing experimental intermedial approaches.
Dr. Pellegrini actively contributes to academic leadership as Coordinator of the First Year Program and Seminar Coordinator for Eastern’s Liberal Arts Core (ELAC). He mentors in theatre history, directing, and new media theory.
