David Pask holds the title of Professor (2019–2021) and is currently an Honorary Fellow at the University of Wollongong, affiliated with the School of Mathematics and Applied Statistics within the Faculty of Engineering and Information Sciences. His research focuses on Pure Mathematics, particularly Operator Algebras, C*-algebras, and Higher-Rank Graphs, with contributions to algebraic structures and functional analysis.
He has secured significant funding, including an Australian Research Council grant titled 'There and back again: operator algebras, algebras and dynamical systems' (2020–2023) and another on 'Groupoids as bridges between algebra and analysis' (2015–2018). His teaching includes supervision of higher-degree research students and courses like MATH221.
His research trends emphasize foundational studies in higher-rank graphs, C*-algebra structure theory, and applications to operator algebras. Notable works include analysis of Morita equivalence, periodicity in monoids, and groupoid-based algebraic constructs.
David has advised students on topics such as KMS states in Toeplitz algebras and Brauer groups for Fell algebras. His work bridges abstract algebra with functional analytic techniques, contributing to both theoretical developments and cross-disciplinary applications in mathematics.
