Dr. David O’Connor is an Associate Professor in Sustainable Land Management at the Royal Agricultural University (RAU), Cirencester, UK. He holds a PhD from the University of Cambridge, where he also conducted postdoctoral research, and previously worked at Tsinghua University in Beijing from 2016–2020. His research focuses on pollution issues in brownfield development, agricultural land degradation, and achieving the UN Sustainable Development Goals through land stewardship. He has authored 49 SCI articles in high-impact journals like Nature, Science, and Nature Sustainability. Currently, he serves as Associate Editor for Soil Use and Management and editorial board member for Journal of Hazardous Materials and Science of the Total Environment.
Dr. O’Connor’s educational background includes an MEng in Environmental Engineering from the University of Nottingham and a PhD from the University of Cambridge. His research interests span biochar applications, microplastic distribution, heavy metal immobilization, and green remediation technologies. He advocates for interdisciplinary approaches to land management, integrating environmental and socio-economic sustainability.
