David Owen

David Owen is a Professor in the Department of English Philology and German Studies at the Autonomous University of Barcelona (UAB). His academic career includes a PhD in English Philology (UAB, 2006), a Master’s (UAB, 2003), and a Bachelor’s from the University of Edinburgh (1984). He is affiliated with the G4RoC research group (Group for the Representation of Conflict).

His research focuses on literary theory, Jane Austen studies, and war/memorial narratives. Key projects include leadership of Nursing on the Move (2014–2017) and co-PI roles in BEYOND POSTMEMORY: ENGLISH LITERARY PERSPECTIVES ON WAR AND MEMORY (2024–2027). His work intersects with contemporary fiction, critical interpretation, and postmemory studies.

Notable publications include analyses of Austen’s narrative techniques, apocalyptic fiction, and theoretical frameworks like structuralism and liberal humanism. His contributions span edited volumes, peer-reviewed chapters, and interdisciplinary studies.
