David Oliveiri

David Oliveiri is an Executive Professor at the Simon Business School, University of Rochester. With a 30-year career spanning publishing and law, he previously held roles such as Group Vice President of Legal Education at West Group (Thomson-Reuters) and President of Foundation Press. He has also served in legal and editorial leadership positions, including General Counsel at Theatre Confections Inc. and Assistant Counsel at Central Trust Bank.

His research focuses on the interplay between law and economics, particularly how legal frameworks influence comparative advantage. He teaches courses in Basic Business Law, Negotiation Theory & Practice, and New Ventures. Oliveiri is the author of the revised editions of Nimmer’s Commercial Asset-Based Financing, a seminal legal treatise.

He is licensed to practice law in New York State and the Federal Court of the Western District of New York. Professional memberships include the New York State Bar Association, Monroe County Bar Association, Beta Gamma Sigma, Scribes Society of Legal Writers, and the Academy of Legal Studies in Business.
