David Neuhold

David Neuhold serves as Professor of Church History at the University of Lucerne's Faculty of Theology since August 2024, following his 2023 appointment at the Chur Theological School. His academic journey spans research positions at the University of Fribourg, University of Zurich, and the Swiss Journal of Religious and Cultural History.

Educated in theology and physics at Graz, he completed his doctorate in 2007 with a thesis on Cardinal König, Archbishop of Vienna. His scholarly development included habilitation (venia legendi) in Church History in 2018 after extensive research on Léon G. Dehon (1843-1925).

Neuhold's research centers on Modern Church History with specialized focus on Catholic ecclesiastical developments, historical spirituality, and pastoral care traditions.
