David Moody is an Associate Professor of Communication at Lake Erie College, affiliated with the School of Business and Professional Studies. He holds a PhD in American Culture Studies from Bowling Green State University, an M.A. in Radio-Television Management from Ohio University, and a B.F.A. in Broadcasting from the University of Cincinnati.
His research focuses on media representation, particularly Black representation in film and television, and the intersection of African American culture with religious and political discourse. He authored two books: The Complexity and Progression of Black Representation in Film and Television (2016) and Political Melodies in the Pews: The Voice of the Black Christian Rapper in the Twenty-first-Century Church (2012). His work bridges communication studies, cultural analysis, and media industry practices.
Dr. Moody has extensive professional experience in broadcasting, holding roles in radio and television management, including a historic tenure as a local TV sales manager in Cleveland. He also has a notable career in theater and film, appearing in productions like Glengarry Glen Ross and films such as White Boy Rick and Big Foot. He currently serves as Board Chair for the Popular Culture Association (PCA).
