David Montgomery

David Montgomery is a Visiting Professor of Marketing and Management at Singapore Management University (SMU) and holds the title of Dean Emeritus. He previously served as the second Dean of the Lee Kong Chian School of Business (2003–2005), during which he prioritized 'balanced excellence'—the integration of research and teaching. His academic career includes 33 years at Stanford University, where he held the Kresge Chair in Marketing Strategy, and early roles at MIT’s Sloan School of Management. He is renowned for pioneering marketing science and co-authoring foundational works like First-Mover Advantages.
