David Mark Barbano is a Professor in the Department of Food Science at Cornell University's College of Agriculture and Life Sciences (CALS). Holding a BS (1970), MS (1973), and Ph.D. (1976) in Food Science from Cornell, he has been a key figure in dairy research since joining as an Assistant Professor in 1980. He directed the Northeast Dairy Foods Research Center from 1988 and contributed to global dairy standards through leadership roles in organizations like the American Dairy Science Association (past president, fellow) and AOAC International (fellow, Harvey Wiley Award recipient).
