David Maidment is a Senior Lecturer in Psychology at the University of Nottingham, affiliated with the National Centre for Sport and Exercise Medicine (NCSEM) and the Peter Harrison Centre for Disability Sport. His research focuses on interventions improving physical health and psychological wellbeing in adults with long-term conditions and disabilities. He currently leads undergraduate modules in Cognitive Psychology and Advanced Experimental Design and Analysis, serves as Lead Academic Tutor for Psychology, and is Butler Court Hall Warden.
David holds a BSc, MSc, and PhD from Cardiff University, where his PhD explored verbal short-term memory. He has held roles as a Research Associate at the MRC Institute of Hearing Research and a Research Fellow at the NIHR Nottingham Biomedical Research Centre, contributing to digital interventions for hearing loss. His work integrates behavior change models and emphasizes accessibility in healthcare technologies.
Key research areas include tinnitus management, hearing aid adoption, and physical activity promotion among disabled populations. He has contributed to the development of tools like the Tinnitus Qualities and Impact Questionnaire and explored telecare solutions for hearing healthcare. His interdisciplinary approach bridges psychology, audiology, and public health to address barriers faced by individuals with disabilities.
