Dr David Mah is a Senior Lecturer in Architecture and Urban Design at the University of Melbourne’s Melbourne School of Design. His career includes teaching roles at Harvard’s Graduate School of Design (2010–2017), Cornell University (2007–2010), and the Architectural Association in London (2004–2007). He has collaborated extensively with Leire Asensio Villoria, co-authoring works such as Lifestyled: Health and Places (2016) and exhibiting internationally at venues like the Royal Academy of Arts (London) and Storefront for Art and Architecture (New York). His research bridges urban design, public health, and material innovation.
Research interests focus on the intersection of urban environments and health outcomes, future city development, and tectonic innovation. He has contributed to projects like the Health and Places Initiative at Harvard, exploring how design impacts community well-being. Professional experience includes work with Zaha Hadid Architects on major projects such as the 2012 London Olympics masterplan and Singapore’s One North Science Park.
Collaborations with Leire Asensio Villoria under the studio asensio_mah since 2002 have produced award-winning architectural and creative works. His publications span academic journals and monographs addressing digital design, material practices, and urban typology.
