معرفی
David M. Ward is a Professor in the Department of Land Resources and Environmental Science at Montana State University. His research focuses on microbial diversity, ecology, and evolution in extreme environments, particularly hot spring microbial mats. He leads the Ward Lab, which explores the interplay between microbial communities and their environments, with applications in astrobiology, environmental science, and public education.
- Research: Investigates microbial species dynamics, thermal biology, and the ecological roles of extremophiles. Collaborates with Yellowstone National Park on outreach and educational initiatives.
- Teaching: Teaches courses like Microbial Diversity, Ecology, and Evolution (LRES/MB 415) and Microbial Ecology (LRES/MB 515).
- Outreach: Partners with Yellowstone's Division of Interpretation and NASA to enhance public understanding of microbiology through educational programs and exhibits.
Labs/Teams: Directs the Ward Lab and contributes to the Thermal Biology Institute at MSU. Supervises PhD students and postdoctoral researchers in microbial ecology projects.
