David M. Gute is a Professor at Tufts University's School of Engineering in the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering. He also holds joint appointments at Tufts University School of Medicine's Department of Public Health and Community Medicine and the Friedman School of Nutrition Science and Policy's Nutrition Epi & Data Science department.

His research spans the intersection of public health and engineering, focusing on occupational health risks among immigrant populations in Massachusetts and primary prevention of urinary schistosomiasis in Ghana. He co-produced Tufts University's first Massive Open Online Course (MOOC) in 2015 addressing waterborne disease control through engineering and public health approaches.
