David Longshaw is a Professor of Fashion at Savannah College of Art and Design (SCAD) in Atlanta, GA (2019–present), combining academic leadership with extensive industry experience. He previously served as a Womenswear designer at Max Mara (2008–09) and Alberta Ferretti (2007–08), and as Creative Director at Migaino, China (2015–16). He concurrently holds roles as Co-Creative Director of Longshaw Ward (UK) and Creative Director of his own firm (UK), alongside freelance work as an illustrator, writer, and animator for clients including Vogue, LOVE magazine, and London Fashion Week.
Longshaw holds an M.A. in Fashion from the Royal College of Art and a B.A. in Fashion Womenswear from Central Saint Martins College of Art and Design. His research interests span fashion design, creative direction, illustration techniques, and the intersection of fashion with narrative art and children's literature. He has explored innovative approaches to textile design, sustainable fashion, and visual storytelling through apparel.
His work has been honored with prestigious awards, including the 2018 Designer of the Year (Harbin, China), BFC/ELLE Talent Launch Pad (2010–11), and Cove Park Residency (2005). He has also been a finalist for Fashion Weekend Brussels and ITS6 International Talent Support (Trieste, Italy, 2007).
Longshaw’s publications include children's fashion tales such as *Mildred*, *Maude*, *Eleanor and the Squirrel*, and *Maudemas*, emphasizing creativity in design and storytelling. His professional collaborations with high-profile clients reflect a commitment to merging fashion with broader artistic and literary contexts.
