David Levari is an Assistant Professor at Brown University in the Department of Cognitive & Psychological Sciences (CoPsy), affiliated with the Nelson Center for Entrepreneurship. His research focuses on understanding how people assess and improve their own and others' performance, exploring topics like task takeovers, advice efficacy, and performance evaluation biases. He employs behavioral experiments, field studies, and computational models to investigate these issues.
Education: PhD in Psychology from Harvard University (2018), BA from University of Chicago (2010). Postdoctoral training at Harvard Business School (2018-2024). Research interests include decision making, judgment, social psychology, and concept formation. His work has been published in journals like Science, Nature Human Behaviour, and Psychological Science.
Teaching includes CLPS 1960 - Senior Seminar in Behavioral Decision Sciences. His research has explored topics such as the narrow concept of trauma from exposure to traumatic narratives, racial perception dynamics among white Americans, and the cognitive biases underlying human aging's impact on conceptual rigidity.
