David Lehman serves as adjunct faculty in the Department of Keyboard Studies within Bob Jones University's School of Fine Arts and Communication, where he has taught for 44 years. Following his retirement as Head of the Department of Keyboard Studies, he continues instructing private piano lessons while maintaining active performance and professional engagement.
His educational foundation includes a Master of Music in Piano Performance from Boston University (studying under Anthony diBonaventura with chamber music instruction from Leslie Parnas and Eugene Lehner) and a Bachelor of Arts in Piano from Bob Jones University with Laurence Morton as his primary instructor. His professional focus spans Piano Performance, Music Education, Chamber Music, and specialized Keyboard Pedagogy, demonstrated through solo performances with the BJU Symphony Orchestra and frequent recitals.
Professor Lehman's educational impact is evidenced by students winning prestigious awards including the Fulbright Scholarship to Vienna Conservatory (2012), Lansing Matinee Musicale Competition first place (2013), Australian Concerto Competition Honorable Mention and 'Most Promising Pianist' (2013), and multiple BJU Concerto/Aria and Annual Piano Competition victories (2009-2022). As an active professional, he serves as adjudicator and clinician throughout the southeastern United States while maintaining membership in MTNA and Greenville Music Teachers Association, and previously directed the BJU Senior Piano Camp.
Complementing his academic work, he serves as organist and choir pianist in his local church community, and pursues personal interests in professional and recreational reading alongside family time with particular enthusiasm for sharing stories about his grandchildren.
