David Lee is a Senior Lecturer in Wildlife Ecology at the University of South Wales, affiliated with the Faculty of Computing, Engineering and Science and the Earth, Ecology and Environment Research and Innovation Group. He holds a PhD in Applied Ecology and Conservation from Manchester Metropolitan University and has extensive experience in conservation biology and wildlife management.

Research Interests: Focused on avian and sun bear ecology, biodiversity survey methods, ecosystem restoration, and conservation management. Current projects include sun bear conservation in Sumatra, artificial canopy bridges for primates in Costa Rica, and Northern Wheatear population studies in Wales. He leads the Earth, Ecology and Environment Research Group and advises the Welsh Government on biodiversity policy.
Teaching: Teaches modules on vertebrate zoology, ecological consultancy, biodiversity patterns, tropical ecology, and restoration ecology at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels.
Publications: Recent work includes studies on bird community responses in the Philippines, impacts of trapping in tropical forests, and bear population monitoring methods. His research emphasizes field-based conservation solutions and policy-relevant biodiversity indicators.
Awards: Received the UK Research Section of the Quarry Life Awards 2018 for collaborative biodiversity projects.
Grants & Collaborations: Engaged with institutions like IPB University, Bannau Brycheiniog National Park Authority, and IUCN SSC Bear Specialist Group. Active in editorial roles for journals and peer-review panels.
