معرفی
Assoc Prof Eleanor Slade is an Associate Professor at the Asian School of the Environment, Nanyang Technological University (NTU), Singapore, and serves as Assistant Chair (Academic).
Education:
- DPhil in Zoology (2008) from the University of Oxford, focusing on the effects of tropical forest management on biodiversity and ecosystem functioning via dung beetle studies.
Research Interests include tropical forest ecology, biodiversity-ecosystem functioning relationships, entomology, and conservation science. Her work explores how species extinctions alter ecosystem multi-functionality, soil microbial dynamics, and greenhouse gas mitigation in cattle farming.
Projects & Grants: She leads the Tropical Ecology and Entomology Lab (TEELab) and investigates dung beetle communities in Southeast Asia. Key initiatives include the BEFTA Project in Sumatra (Indonesia) to assess biodiversity in oil palm plantations, the RERTA Project to restore riparian buffers in Malaysia, and participation in British Council Newton grants examining riparian reserves. She also coordinated the NERC-funded LOMKOK consortium and managed a UNDP-GEF project in Sabah, Malaysia.
Labs & Collaborations: TEELab collaborates with stakeholders like the Roundtable on Sustainable Palm Oil (RSPO) and local governments to translate science into policy guidelines, emphasizing evidence-based conservation strategies.
