David Le Trouzé

David Le Trouzé is a Professor and Director of the LHEEA (Laboratory of Hydrodynamics, Energetics and Atmospheric Environment) at Centrale Nantes. A graduate of the institution, he completed his Master's degree and PhD in hydrodynamics and ocean engineering at Centrale Nantes, followed by a post-doctoral position at CNR-INM in Rome. He returned to Centrale Nantes due to its exceptional research facilities and collaborative environment.

Research Focus

Professor Le Trouzé specializes in free-surface hydrodynamics with applications spanning:

• Marine engineering: Wave impact analysis on ships and renewable energy devices
• Aerospace safety: Aircraft/helicopter emergency water landings
• Industrial flows: Automotive gearbox fluid dynamics
• Biomedical engineering: Cardiovascular flows and prosthetic valve performance (with CHU Nantes hospital)

His work utilizes both experimental facilities and numerical methods, particularly the SPH (Smoothed Particle Hydrodynamics) technique.

Infrastructure Leadership

He oversees Centrale Nantes' cutting-edge facilities including:

• A large towing tank and ocean engineering basin
• The SEM-REV offshore test site (hosting France's first floating wind turbine)
• High-performance computing cluster for simulations
