David Law is Professor of Christian Thought and Philosophical Theology at the University of Manchester. His research specializes in kenotic Christology, apophatic theology, and existentialist philosophy, particularly Søren Kierkegaard's works. He authored Kierkegaard as Negative Theologian and Kierkegaard's Kenotic Christology, exploring divine transcendence and incarnation.
Current research examines historical developments of kenotic theology in German and British traditions, analyzing how Christ's divine attributes were reconceptualized in kenotic frameworks. His work on biblical inspiration combines reader-response theory with Jaspers' philosophy of ciphers.
He teaches courses on Christian doctrine, existentialist theology, and historical-critical methods. His doctoral research at Oxford focused on Kierkegaard's apophaticism, and he holds a DD from Oxford.
