David Klement, D.A., is Assistant Professor and Director of Choral Activities at the Lionel Hampton School of Music, University of Idaho, within the College of Letters, Arts and Social Sciences. He teaches courses in choral conducting, choral literature, vocal literature, and secondary choral methods, and conducts various ensembles including the Vandaleers Concert Choir and Treble Chorus.
His research and artistic focus lies in early choral music performance practice and 20th-century English choral and solo voice literature. As an active composer, conductor, and educator, he emphasizes the pedagogical and historical dimensions of choral music. His doctoral dissertation on Edward Elgar's The Music Makers was published in 2018 and received the Dean’s Award for Outstanding Dissertation.
He has presented and adjudicated at state music education associations including NMMEA and GMEA, and has taught at institutions such as the University of Northern Colorado, Dartmouth College, Eastman School of Music, and the Albany Academy for Girls. He previously served as interim Director of Choral Activities at Valdosta State University and New Mexico State University.

With nearly thirty years of experience leading church music programs and founding the Rochester Boys Choir, Klement brings extensive practical and scholarly leadership to choral music education. He studied under renowned choral conductors including Sir David Willcocks, Donald Neuen, and Dale Warland, shaping his deep commitment to the choral art. He is also an active composer of choral music for adult and children’s choirs.
