David Kelly

Dr David Kelly is a Senior Lecturer in Developmental Psychology at the School of Psychology, University of Kent. He serves as Co-Director of the Kent Child Development Unit, Chair of the Ethics Committee, and Programme Director for the MSc in Developmental Psychology.

His research focuses on cognitive development in early infancy, particularly face processing and eye-tracking studies. He investigates cross-cultural differences in visual perception, autism spectrum disorders, and the interplay between oculomotor control and language development.

Recent publications highlight trends in infant facial expression analysis, cultural influences on eye movements, and neurodevelopmental variations in preterm and autistic infants. His work spans experimental psychology, developmental science, and cross-cultural cognitive neuroscience.

Dr Kelly supervises PhD students including Jonathan Prunty (2020) and collaborates with researchers like Jolie Keemink. He is affiliated with the Kent Child Development Unit and employs naturalistic eye-tracking paradigms to study social cognition in infants.
