Dr. David J. Kelley is a full Professor and current Online Master’s Degree Program Coordinator in the Sport Administration Program at the University of Cincinnati’s College of Education, Criminal Justice, and Human Services. With over two decades of experience, he has held roles as an Associate Professor (2013-2023), Adjunct Professor at Xavier University (2004-2006), and prior positions in K-12 education and private industry.
- Ph.D. in Higher Education/Sports Administration from Ohio University (2002)
- M.S. in Physical Education from Syracuse University (1992)
- B.S. in Physical Education from St. Bonaventure University (1990)
Dr. Kelley specializes in sport finance, fundraising, and revenue generation strategies. His research explores grant writing, corporate sponsorships, gender equity in sports funding, and innovative approaches to budget diversification for interscholastic athletics. He has authored two books on sports fundraising and internship training, and his work has been published in journals like Interscholastic Athletic Administration and High School Today.
His scholarly contributions focus on financial strategies for sports organizations, including grant writing, corporate partnerships, and pandemic-era fundraising adaptations. He has delivered national and regional presentations on these topics through platforms like the NIAAA Summer Workshop Series and Arkansas High School Athletic Directors Conference.

Dr. Kelley has received multiple grants for athletic programs, including funding from General Mills and U.S. Congressional representatives.
