Professor David Jarvis serves as Deputy Director of the Centre for Business in Society (CBiS) at Coventry University's College of Business and Law. With over 20 years of post-PhD experience, he has delivered more than 70 impactful research and consultancy projects for multinational corporations, EU institutions, UK government bodies, and community organizations, specializing in connecting academic research with practical policy applications.
His educational background features a Doctorate in Economic Geography from Coventry University (1999-2002), awarded under an ESRC CASE Award for research on competitive behavior in rural manufacturing SMEs. This foundation informs his persistent focus on regional economic change stemming from personal experiences with deindustrialization.
Professor Jarvis's research centers on automotive industry transformation, low-carbon transitions, transport-mobility dynamics, manufacturing clusters, and faith-based community regeneration. His work integrates quantitative economic modeling with qualitative stakeholder engagement to address real-world challenges in post-industrial communities, with strong alignment to UN Sustainable Development Goals related to sustainable cities, industry innovation, and climate action.
Recent publications reveal evolving research trajectories examining economic shocks across industrial sectors, globalization impacts on traditional manufacturing, social media applications for environmental education, and the critical transition from Industry 4.0 to human-centric Industry 5.0 frameworks.

As an educator, he has supervised 26 doctoral candidates while pioneering Coventry University's Doctorate of Business Administration program and creating innovative undergraduate research internships. His extensive grant portfolio encompasses 56 projects including the West Midlands Local Policy Innovation Pilot, Commonwealth Games impact evaluation, and multiple transport behavior studies examining post-pandemic urban mobility patterns.
