David J. Brennan is a Professor and Associate Dean, Research at the Factor-Inwentash Faculty of Social Work, University of Toronto. He leads the CRUISE Lab, focusing on HIV/AIDS, sexual health, and LGBTQIA+ health disparities. His research emphasizes marginalized communities, including Two-Spirit, gay, and bisexual men, exploring resilience, body image, and healthcare access. He has held prestigious awards, including the Excellence in Research Award (2018) and the Ontario HIV Treatment Network Chair (2014-2019). Dr. Brennan’s work spans over 100 peer-reviewed publications and has been funded by SSHRC, CIHR, and other agencies. His leadership roles include chairing the Research Management Committee and serving on national advisory boards.
Education: PhD in Social Work from Boston College (2007), MSW (1987), and BA (1986). Teaching focuses on social work research, health policy, and HIV prevention. Key grants include studies on blood donation policies, mental health during the pandemic, and community-based interventions.
